Rampant Valletta maintain positive run

Valletta joined Hamrun and Luxol at the summit of the Gatorade Futsal League standings after outclassing Msida St Joseph 9-3.
It was a classic encounter between two teams that managed to win the first three matches of the season and this was considered as the match of the week.
The Citizens dominated the first half especially when attacking fiercely in front of goal to expose Msida’s defensive frailties.
On the other hand, the Sea-siders relied on some effective counter-attacks that at times resulted effective.
The game was three minutes old as Jovica Milijic broke the deadlock for the Lilywhites when his grounder finished at the back of the net.
Msida didn’t take so long to level the matters as Armando Gjepali found the ball on his feet as he unleashed a shot that gave no chance to Cuschieri.
However Msida’s joy was shortlived as Valletta once again were through when Denis di Maio controlled the ball well as he fired a fierce drive that surprised Msida’s keeper to regain the advantage.
Substitute Dylan Musu converted a freekick to score Valletta’s third goal.

Msida were relying on Floren Manea’s incursions and in one of them they managed to reduce the arrears as the Romanian fired home a Ryan Xuereb’s pass.
This goal didn’t break the Citizens’ hearts as they continued to surge forward and add three more goals through Dylan Musu, Mohammed Elamari and Jovica Milijic before the break.
Msida were a different lot in the second half as they pushed forward in search of more goals.
And it was again Floren Manea that stole the show as he slotted the ball into the net after a good move by Mendes da Silva.
But it was not long until Valletta scored three quickfire goals from Elamari, Di Maio and Pace to rubberstamp their fourth victory of the campaign.
The full time whistle saw the Valletta fans euphoric for this important win that ensured their perfect run since the start of the season.
