Mriehel ESS, Msida, Qrendi and Sliema prolong their winning run

The Gatorade Futsal League’s Division One continued with more matches, where Sliema Wanderers retained their lead on top of the table while Mriehel ESS, Msida SJ and Qrendi also showed positive outcomes in their respective matches.
While last Thursday night, Claudio Faniello was singing Breathlessly in the Eurovision Song Contest, both teams of Sliema Wanderers and Safi San Lorenzo were out of breath doing their utmost to achieve the best results. The game was very tight and both teams showed what real pleasurable futsal actually is. Sliema managed to win the game through goals scored by Mauro Busuttil, Christian Micallef, Aleksander Ribic and Christian Lia’s own goal. For Safi San Lorenzo Alexei Saliba and Clive Calleja were on the mark.
Mriehel ESS white washed Marsascala Construct Furniture with the final score of 7-0. Ayoub Ahmed was twice on the mark, together with goals from Eslam Khalifa, Fabio Grech, Marwan Telisi and Essa Benatiya. Unfortunately Marsascala’s Matthew Grima committed also an autogoal.
Msida SJ effortlessly acquired another 3 points, this time against Zurrieq Wolves, with the end result of 19-2. Msida’s George Frendo and Armando Gjepali were at their best, when they scored six and four goals respectively. For Msida three hat-tricks by Mohammed Lamari, Ryan Xuereb and Chris Cutajar need to be added. Both Zurrieq’s goals were scored by Russell Camilleri.
Qrendi’s Craig Pickard and Antonello Brincat were again the main protagonists in a 6-4 win against Tarxien JMI. Pickard scored twice, together with more goals by Antonello Brincat, Clayton Borg, Bertram Azzopardi and Ronald Spina. Leonard Alla, Lawrence Buhagiar, Silio Saliba and Vince Camilleri scored for Tarxien JMI.
