Brave performance by the Knights, Mqabba still on the winning side

As the game was about to start, the University Students all wearing white Mdina Knights’ shirts, made a huge noise in the Corradino Sport Pavillion.

Their support helped a lot especially in the first five minutes, as the Knights had a good attacking initiative.

Mqabba managed to take the lead after 9 minutes of play, after Kevin Loughborough slotted the ball from the side.

The Knights almost managed to score their levelling goal through Leo Muscat’s strong shot, but it was thwarted by the keeper.

Mdina’s Gaetano Gesualdi pulled one back after connecting well with Muscat, but Mqabba restored their lead immediately through Miguel Alcaraz.

Mqabba failed to extend their lead after they were given a spot-kick, and Neil Cauchi hit the post on the counter attack.

In the second half Leo Muscat and Cleaven Portelli joined up in a brilliant one-two for Muscat to smash in the equalizer.

Mqabba took the lead once again with an unstoppable shot in the top right corner, from Borja Lopez Fernandez.

It was Portelli who equalised for the Knights with a well-placed shot in the bottom left corner of the net.

Finally Mqabba took the lead once again from a corner and again through Borja Lopez Fernandez .
