Attard grind out win over B’Bugia to go third

Attard confirmed their positive patch in the First Division league after trouncing B’Buġia 12-3 to go third in the table alongside Naxxar Lions, even having a better goal difference.

The winners dominated completely the proceedings and scored twelve times as Clayton Farrugia scored five goals, Antonio Camilleri notched a hat-trick, Byron Fenech hit the target twice while Beppe Camilleri and Adrian Zalba added more goals for Attard.

Peter Mark Cachia, Jean Paul Abdilla and Noel Tabone were on target for B’Buġia.

Qrendi returned to winning ways after seeing off Sirens 3-2. It was a duel between two teams that occupy the lower part of the table.

Qrendi had a terrific start as they scored three times before the interval through Antonello Brincat, Bertram Azzopardi and Maxime Landais after taking advantage of some defensive frailties.

However, Sirens were a different lot in the second half as they pressed forward in search of goals and in two of them Etienne Bonnici and Jason Camilleri found the net.

The seasiders were unlucky not to score more goals as they hit the post three times, with Qrendi defending boldly to secure their sixth success of the campaign.
