A tie between UOM and Swieqi United for the third place

Swieqi United are solely at the third place, after a draw of 5-5 against the University of Malta. With this result the Universitarians are at the fourth place with only one point ahead of Hamrun Tre Angeli. The Universitarians netted their five goals from a hat-trick by Spanish Jose Maria Aguilera Castellano and a goal apiece for Gary Inguanez and Leo Muscat. Swieqi United scored through Chris Cardona, Ryan Xuereb, Zurab Lukava and a brace from Shota Chanukvadze. In the other matches played this week, Luxol and Hamrun Tre Angeli continued on their winning trends. Luxol confirmed their second place as they won against Tarxien JMI for 8-3. Hamrun continued to impress as they trashed Pietà Nordiska with the end result of 12-1.

Luxol and Valletta record double win

Double wins for Luxol and Valletta with the latter retaining maximum points. Luxol made it 8-2 against University of Malta and 11-3 Swieqi United U21. Valletta had the better side beating Pieta Nordiska 6-1 and trashed Junior College for 22-0. Luxol St. Andrews were initally shocked from the Universitarians as they opened the score through Jose Maria Aguilera Castellano. In the final minutes of the first half Luxol took control of the match and scored through Zvezdan Vukovic, Mark Zammit and Andy Mangion. In the opening of the second half, Luxol continued to impress as they made them 4-1 by George Frendo. Hamrun returned to winning ways in a short week of futsal

Hamrun Tre Angeli assured three significant points when they beat Marsaskala for 6-1. Hamrun are momentarily in the third place, a point ahead of Luxol and Pietà Nordiska, who were not in action during this week. The victory against Marsaskala came from an own goal by Robert Zammit and goals from Aleksander Tomin, Florin Anton, Clive Calleja, Manuel Jesus Cespedes Gallardo and Luke Stivala. Marsaskala’s sole goal was scored by Reuben Degabriele. Mriehel ESS continued to impress as they won 9-3 over Qormi. Tarxien JMI redeemed itself as they beat Swieqi United U21 for 12-2. On the other hand Swieqi United’s major team thrashed bottom team Junior College, with the end result of 12-1.

So close between Luxol and Hamrun

Luxol managed to win against Hamrun 5-4, in a very close match in which Hamrun lost the equaliser in the final minutes. Luxol’s player and coach Frane Despotovic scored one of the five goals, together with Andy Mangion, Rogerio dos Santos Filho, Celino Alves and Captain Mark Zammit. Luxol had to suffer two players sent off, as Glenn Bonello received the second yellow card and goalkeeper Matthew Xerxen was shown the red card. Two minutes from the end, while Hamrun set about making their extra man count, Florin Anton’s equaliser was denied by the post. A spectacular tigh between Hamrun and University

Hamrun Tre Angeli and the University of Malta shared the spoils with seven goals scored on each side. In the first half, the Universitarians gained a 6-3 advantage with Hamrun balancing the end result to 7-7. The Universitarians found the net through Rodney Debono, Mamadou Diaby twice, Leo Muscat, Shawn Deguara, Gary Inguanez and Jose Maria Aguillera Castellano. On the other hand Aleksander Tomin, a poker from Everton Da Silva Santos, Clive Calleja and Luke Stivala from a penalty, scored for Hamrun. Unstoppable Valletta too strong for Luxol

In the much awaited clash of the titans Valletta and Luxol, which brought a spectacular audience at the Corradino Sport Pavillion, saw the Citizens registering another impressive victory. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Lillywhites. It took quite a long time for Valletta to break the deadlock as both teams were tactically disciplined and kept a watchful eye on each other. Five minutes from the end of the first half, Gia Nikvashvili gave an inviting cross to Jovica Milijic who easily tapped in the opening goal for Valletta. In the opening of the second half, it was Milijic again who doubled the score for the Citizens. Ready for the clash of the titans

Both Luxol and Vallletta are geared up for their clash, scheduled for Friday night. Valletta won all the five matches so far, while Luxol won three as they have two matches in arrears during their participation in the UEFA Futsal Cup’s Main Round. All futsal enthusiasts are predicting a very entertaining match between these two futsal titans. Luxol bagged another three points winning against Mriehel ESS with the end result of 9-3. In the first half Luxol had a more comfortable advantage, as they lead 7-0. In the second half Mriehel ESS came back and manged to reduce the score three times. In the end, Luxol sealed the result by scoring two more goals. Brave Universitarians step down to the unbeatable Citizens

This week of futsal ended up with an amazing challenge between the two top rivals. Both the University of Malta and Valletta were coming from a winning track and they crossed swords to maintain their place on top. Even though the Universitarians stepped down to the second place, they showed great determination as a very organised team. The Universitarians ended the first half 3-1 ahead of Valletta. Their French debutant Mamad Diab, who played with Etoile Lavalloise Futsal and with the French U21, bagged his first goal in our domestic league. The University’s scoresheet included also goals from Joselito Aguilera, Alex Ellul and an autogoal. Valletta proudly introduced the Georgian international player Gia Nikvashvili who scored a hat-trick. Valletta and University of Malta heading towards their first clash

STEPHEN AZZOPARDI The University of Malta and former Mdina Knights appear to be on an increasing progressive mode during their fourth consecutive season. Similar to Valletta, they managed to make a win of the first three consecutive league matches. This week Valletta cruised over Swieqi U21 with Denis Di Maio’s brace, a goal apiece for Melvin Borg, Shawn Vella and Jovica Milijic, together with an own goal. On the other hand the Universitarians were again successful, bagging another three points against Marsaskala. Nermin Hasanbegovic was in a fantastic form as he scored five goals. Jose Maria Aguillera Castellano was also in top notch as he had a hat-trick. A first glance at the opening matches

The first league matches are now covered by the twelve teams participating in this futsal season. The teams that managed to grab their first three points include University of Malta, Hamrun Tre Angeli, Pieta Hotspurs, Valletta, Tarxien JMI and Luxol. The Universitarians grabbed their first win against Qormi, with the end result of 2-0. Hamrun Tre Angeli, with their strong squad, made it easy over Swieqi U21 winning 19-1. Valletta also started on the winning track against Mriehel ESS winning 5-1. A very interesting encounter between newcomers Pieta Hotspurs and Marsaskala ended with the former beating revamped Marsaskala 4-2. Following, on Friday night, Tarxien JMI laid no chance to the other newcomers Junior College, as they made it 11-2.
