FMA Super Cup 2012/2013 Press Conference

The press conference was introduced by FMA President Mr. Donald Spiteri, who gave a brief account of the first phase of the setting up of the new futsal association and the application as member association with the Malta Football Association.  The strong positive relationship with MFA has immediately yielded results with the futsal association being approved unanimously by the higher organs of the MFA and with financial support for the Corradino Pavilion already secured.  For this Mr. Spiteri thanked MFA, especially Mr. Bjorn Vassallo and Mr. Norman Darmanin Demajo. Mr. Spiteri went on to describe the association’s vision for the future, starting with the  introduction of futsal at grassroots level up to the introduction of an under 21 National Team.  However a lot still needs to be done, such as the provision of more venues which is currently a major issue.   Player coach Florin Anton praised his players for the extra effort in the match. He was speaking at the post match UEFA press conference. “We were tactically better and the players followed my instructions and it was clear as from the start that we had a better approach to the game. We tried to play Futsal and we managed” he added. When asked if it was difficult to prepare for this game after the heavy defeat in the first group game Anton replied “We obviously spoke together with the players and tried to arrange what went wrong in the first game, I am not happy with the result because we lost but we played a very decent game and we were unlucky in some instances”

UEFA Futsal Cup 2012 report by Sandro Micallef Balzan FC Futsal 0 Lexmax Chisinau 3 Balzan made their opponents Lexmax Chisinau sweat to gain their opening three points of Group A of the UEFA Futsal Cup 2012. A controversial penalty awarded in the second half of the game paved way to a hard fought match in which the Malta Futsal Champions lost again. But contrary to what we witnessed in the de but of the competition yesterday, the players came off the pitch at the end of the game with their head up. The Thursday morning debriefing session seems to have left the desired impact as Balzan were much better organised in their set up and tactical play. They were facing Lexmax Chisinau hot favourites to win this group and advance to the main round of the UEFA Futsal Cup.
